Cass Lake Minnesota is located in Cass County, where Hwy 371 meets US 2. The Cass Lake Area Chain of Lakes is just one nearby water attraction. The Chain of lakes was part of the Red Lake - Leech Lake Trail, a waterway used by Native Americans, traders and trappers. If vacationing in the area you will want to visit the many Historical sites including Cass Lake Museum and Lyle's Logging Camp. The museum, formerly a railroad depot includes Native American artifacts from the 1800's.

The Chippewa National Forest in Cass Lake is a natural wonderland. The Park covers almost 1.2 million acres, with over 700 lakes, and 920 miles of streams and 150,000 acres of wetlands. The largest population of breading Eagles in the lower 48 states live here. There are more than 280 miles of trails for you to enjoy the pristine beauty of this natural area. Birdwatchers will find this a most enjoyable bird watching adventure with over 243 species. The park is also open in the winter months.

While visiting Cass Lake be sure to see the Lost Forty. An area of land that has never been touched by loggers. You will see Virgin Red and White Pine stands in their natural splendor and get an idea of what a real natural forest looks like.

Cass Lake is also home to one of the most popular State parks in Minnesota. That's right...Itasca State park is visited more than any other park in the state of Minnesota. The park is known for the headwaters of the Mississippi river and includes the largest White and Red Pine in the State of Minnesota. Enjoy the many miles of bike and hiking trails. Lake Bemidji State park is just minutes from Cass lake and is the ending of the Paul Bunyan trail. There is a two mile bog walk, may species of birds and wildlife and natural plant habitat.
